Morrisons searches for SALSA approved suppliers

Morrisons launches a search to find and support the best of 'The Nation's Local Foodmakers' and is inviting SALSA-Approved businesses to pitch for a place on their shelves.

Morrisons is committed to feeding the nation with ‘a bigger portion’ of food and drink sourced from local suppliers, and is already going the extra mile to help regional food and drink suppliers ‘make it’ at Morrisons.   Last Friday’s announcement goes one step further to uncover those hidden gems which can offer Morrisons’ customers more food and drink products to meet local tastes and appetites, as well as supply products grown or made ‘just down the road’ from their communities.

Morrisons started life as a bustling egg, milk and butter market stall in Bradford back in 1899 – firmly establishing its roots as a fresh produce-focused local grocer providing customers with quality, variety and value.  Today, Morrisons is the UK’s single largest customer of British farming and always aims to present and make the most of the fresh food it sells.

With this newly launched initiative, Morrisons is looking for food and drink suppliers like you – small and local businesses which meet their community’s food tastes and grow or make products within a 30- 60mile radius of its 491 stores.  In addition, it is looking to  help support suppliers whose food and drink products may be recognised and already liked by local customers, but are not yet known nationally.

Throughout 2017, ‘The Nation’s Local Foodmakers’ programme will see Morrisons’ buyers tour the nation in search of the best local suppliers to work with them today and hopefully grow with them in the futureFind out more and take the first step to making sure YOUR products get noticed.   For further information about the programme, entry requirements and terms or to apply, please visit   www.morrisons.com/local
