3-Stage Auditing From SALSA
**SALSA AUDIT UPDATE**
After review of the new restrictions anticipated to be in effect in England from 5th November and those imposed by the devolved administrations there is no change to the current audit provisions from SALSA.
We will therefore continue to offer onsite audits (Full, Hybrid and Staged) – subject to risk assessment and protocol, agreed between the auditor and auditee in advance. The protocol for onsite auditing and the accompanying risk assessment have been revised as part of ongoing work to encompass the different restrictions across the UK.
As per existing protocol, all businesses who are not in a position to either receive visitors, (or whose auditors have assessed the risk too great to visit the site), should start with the (Stage 1) Certificate Extension where it is necessary to prevent certificate expiry before an audit can take place. The extension to the certificate is not an extension to approval but allows a site to maintain their certification, subject to risk assessment and submission of requested documents, whilst the audit can be rearranged either to a later date or as a hybrid or remote assessment. In accordance with the national effort to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease, SALSA has, instigated a process for Certificate Extension and subsequently the 3 Stage Audit process, which includes an element of Remote Assessment.
It is now possible to plan onsite audits and visits, where we are able to do this safely. However, the 3 Stage Audit process still remains an option for businesses who are not in a position to accept on-site visitors.
